 Mr. Fadil Costovic established ARTISAN, a furniture manufacture company in Tesanj, Bosnia and Herzegovina, in 2007. Today, the company employs 34 people, and in 2008 made a total of 1 million Euros in revenues, 70% of which came from exported goods.

 “It was a question of how long we were going to survive, if we were going to survive at all,” said Mirza Hubjer of his family’s decision to flee their civil war-torn country of Bosnia in 1992. The family of four sought safety in nearby Croatia. But in 1994, when the war crept across country borders, they came to Chicago on refugee visas.

 A pair of Albanian and Serbian filmmakers is collaborating on a film with the hope of bridging their cultures and appealing to international audiences. It will be the first Albanian-Serbian joint cinematic production. The directors hope to have it ready for audiences by June.
